The How Stean Experience

(situated between Pateley Bridge and Masham)

Sat 17th April, 2 sessions, at 10am and 1pm

Sunday 9th May, 2 sessions at 10am and 1pm

What’s it all about?

The Via Ferrata – literally means ‘Iron Way’ is a network of metal beams, ladders and cables set in the rocks to help adventurers climb, wade and abseil through How Stean Gorge. You will find yourself wading through gushing water, traversing rock walls, balancing on ladders and beams, abseiling 60 feet off a bridge, sliding through water spouts and sitting under waterfalls. It’s a brave challenge for thrill seekers and outdoor enthusiasts!

Treat yourself to this unforgettable experience! Via Ferrata includes 3 hours of instructor led gorge walking, rock scrambling, abseiling, and a DVD of your experience for only £45 per person!

What is is How Stean Gorge?

It is a spectacular limestone gorge in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. This steep sided chasm is almost 1 km in length and up to 20 metres (80ft) deep in places. Follow winding walkways, explore caves and tunnels or challenge yourself on the new Via Ferrata course – an aerial network of beams, ladders and cables – one of only two in England!

It is located between Pateley Bridge and Masham, How Stean is only 45 mins from the A1 and ½ hour from A59. The nearest town is Pateley Bridge, only 7 miles away.
